This is for sure among my favorite poems if not numero uno. It is just, like....realistic to me. And nooo I am not a sad person but I have my days. This just speaks a lot of truth. I first read it while I was reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephan Chbosky. Among my favorite books for real. Everyone should read it. Once again, just...real and true.
Absolutely Nothing by Osoanon Nimuss
Once on a yellow piece of paper with green lines
he wrote a poem
And he called it "Chops"
because that was the name of his dog
And that's what it was all about
And his teacher gave him an A
and a gold star
And his mother hung it on the kitchen door
and read it to his aunts
That was the year Father Tracy
took all the kids to the zoo
And he let them sing on the bus
And his little sister was born
with tiny toenails and no hair
And his mother and father kissed a lot
And the girl around the corner sent him a
Valentine signed with a row of X's
and he had to ask his father what the X's meant
And his father always tucked him in bed at night
And was always there to do it.
Once on a piece of white paper with blue lines
he wrote a poem
And he called it "Autumn"
because that was the name of the season
And that's what it was all about
And his teacher gave him an A
and asked him to write more clearly
And his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
because of its new paint
And the kids told him
that Father Tracy smoked cigars
And left butts on the pew
And sometimes they would burn holes
That was the year his sister got glasses
with thick lenses and black frames
And the girl around the corner laughed
when he asked her to go see Santa Claus
and the kids told him why
his mother and father kissed a lot
And his father never tucked him in bed at night
And his father got mad
when he cried for him to do it.
Once on a paper torn from his notebook
he wrote a poem
And he called it "Innocence: A Question"
because that was the question about his girl
And that's what it was all about
And his professor gave him an A
and a strange steady look
And his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
because he never showed her
That was the year that Father Tracy died
And he forgot how the end
of the Apostle's Creed went
And he caught his sister
making out on the back porch
And his mother and father never kissed
or even talked
And the girl around the corner
wore too much makeup
that made him cough when he kissed her
but he kissed her anyway
because that was the thing to do
And at three a.m. he tucked himself into bed
his father snoring soundly.
That's why on the back of a brown paper bag
he tried another poem
And he called it "Absolutely Nothing"
Because that's what it was really all about
And he gave himself an A
and a slash on each damned wrist
And he hung it on the bathroom door
because this time he didn't think
he could reach the kitchen.

I Really Forgot
how much I dig reading.
I recently got my mother to buy me the first two books in the Sookie Stackhouse novels. (I know, my ma bought 'em for me cause she feels bad for me living out in the middle of nowhere without tv and this really shitty internet connection on top of being massively broke....the woes of moving out of the comfortable nest) I am only about 100 pages into the first book but I find myself thinking about reading and loving the feeling of getting lost in another world. Frankly, this one kinda sucks sometimes. I generally do try and keep it positive but sometimes people I know are just boring...their drama gets old and predictable so I prefer to read about more interesting drama that I know nothing of.
I have watched the television series that is based off of these books (True Blood) and that show is SIIICKKK. I really do dig it wayyyy beyond reason buuuut it doesn't seem that it follows the books too much already. Eh, doesn't matter to me. Both are awesome. Bill is the tighest, most BADASS vampire besides maybe the character Lestat from the Anne Rice Vampire Series.
and HELL NO. I loathe Twilight. Not only do I hate that the vampires sparkle in the sunlight (which is supposed to be one thing that can actually KILL a vampire, so wtf) but the fact that the quality of the books are just not something I can personally stand. I have read excerpts and such from various books out of the "twilight saga" but the author just is not for me. It all seems elementary and I know that it is meant for teens and all but it even seems below that. Personal opinion.
Buuuut anyways,
I am gonna jet....gonna go read some SHIIIITTT. /forthewin.

I Always Get Freaked Out
whenever I really look at the moon. Mainly because it actually reminds me that I am --for real-- floating around in space. Of course grounded on a planet by gravity that is on a set orbit but IN SPACE nonetheless. It gives me a certain sense of insignificance not only in comparison with the world but also related to the universe as a whole.
The thought of being so small in a town/county/state/country/continent/hemisphere/world is already enough to grasp and then I take a look past the ozone just to get hit by the ton of bricks called "the great beyond" and really feel like nothing but a drop of water in the ocean. (FYI: this concept does not upset me by any means. I am merely typing this out as a disclaimer so that no one gets the feeling that I am some sad emo kid who sits in the corner thinking they are "nothing to the world" )
I am content being merely a drop of water in the ocean or grain of sand in the desert. I think I am pretty badass if I might say so myself mainly because I know that the one drop of water that is "me" can have an effect on the entire body itself. That also "freaks me out" as well because my decisions and such effect those around me and my surroundings as well and, in turn, by me effecting (infecting) them I am effecting (infecting) myself. Yep, we all matter and that, my friend, is pretty rad. Just keep it positive because positivity breeds positivity in our smaller versions of "space" such as our homes, man.
Basically, let's just all stay stoked in space
cause we all have an effect on each other.
Screw the negativity. I am personally beyond tired of it. One person's bad mood can effect another...then another...then another. A horrible cycle of lameness that seems to be perpertual and neverending. D: ! Let us not poison the pool but to create abundance of rad shit instead. I know, I know...we shouldn't let other people's bad moods bring us down...but face it-- we are not impervious to the random comments of hateful people or rude statements made by a grumpy boyfriend/girlfriend/parent/friend who feels it necessary to dump their bad days on us. (don't say a good bf or gf or ma or pa or bff would never do that because guaranteed you have done it before without thought as well.)
We are not perfect, I know.
I am just trying to say,
hey...let's make the best of shit while we are here...and not pollute other's space by taking a dump in what we view as our own bathroom of life cause our actions definitely effect others.
Space does make me feel insignificant and it does freak me out...
but somehow it's greatness makes me realize that I do matter and even if some asshole doesn't agree....they better watch out cause I could be polluting their habitat. Okay, should not wish ill-will on those unaware of my greatness. But beware of those you do not notice cause they could be the silent infestation making you feel like hell and death combined.
Berid of the bad and embrace the good.
Helllll Yessss.
Good Makes More Good.
